Winter Science

Today we put salt on ice.  We asked the children to share what will happen.  Some responses where:  "It will turn into ice", "It will break" and "It will turn white."  We noticed the ice melting and turning "bumpy" when salt was poured on it.  I wonder what will happen if we put pepper on it?
